How to add a Hero to a page (free)

Ashford suppports adding eye-popping Hero to any page on your site. Use these large format images (e.g. 300px by 940px) on landing pages where you want to increase the number of conversions. These can be added to ANY page regardless of template.

Adding an Image Hero Type

NOTE: These are instructions for the free version of Ashford (click here for Pro instructions).

  • Prepare your Hero image to be exactly 940px wide (height can vary)
  • Add or Edit a WordPress Page
  • Add a custom field to add a Hero  image to the page
    • name = image
    • value = http://yourwebsite.com/images/image.jpg
  • If you want to wrap the image in a link (to make it clickable), add a second custom field
    • name = link
    • value = http://yourwebsite.com/pagename

In most versions of Ashford, you could add a Hero image via FTP and a naming convention. While in most cases this has been useful, for too many users, it has caused untold hours of frustration due to variations in web host environments. For that reason, the FTP method of adding Hero images is deprecated.
