The Moving Boxes carousel slider is designed to be eye candy with a purpose. It should be used on pages where you have content but want to dynamically feature 4-8 posts.
- Use it on a product category page where the copy summarizes 4-8 products featured prominently in the carousel.
- Use it for a staff biography page where the copy gives the standard about us pitch and the carousel features head shots of your staff.
Requirements
- A category name with 4-8 posts
- All posts should have shorter rather than longer titles
- All posts in this category must have an image attached that is at least 300px wide
Instructions
- Select the Dashboard → Write → Page
- Add title and page content
- Find Attributes subheading in right column
- Click on the “Parent” drop down to correctly arrange your page in your hierarchy
- Click on Page Template to select “Carousel slider landing page”
- Click on Page Order to customize the order of the pages in your navigation (larger numbers move pages to the right) otherwise they will appear in alphabetical order
- Find “Custom Fields” in main column located directly below the text editor
- In Name field enter “Carousel Category Name”
- In Value field enter the name of the post category displayed in the carousel
- Tip: use a post category with 4-8 posts
- Click the Publish button at the top of the right column
Specifications
- Carousel is 820px wide with 10px grey border
- Each image in the carousel is 250px wide by default then enlarged to 336px…so it is important that the images used in your posts are at least 250px wide and preferably 336px wide
- Titles are best kept to one line although 2 lines are acceptable
- Main content area is 820px wide
