Building with pages

Ashford allows you to build your web site by adding pages and child pages.

  • You add parent pages to build the main navigation bar. We recommend that you do not add more than seven parent pages to your site.
  • You add child pages to build the drop down menus.

Add a parent page

To create a new parent page and build the navigation,

  • Select the Dashboard → Write → Page
  • Add title and page content
  • Find Advanced Options subheading
    • Click on Page Template to select a custom page template
    • Click on Page Order to customize the order of the pages in your navigation (larger numbers move pages to the right) otherwise they will appear in alphabetical order
  • Click the Publish button at the top of the right column

This will add a page to the navigation bar immediately.

Add a child page

Pages can be positioned in a hierarchy or outline. For example, this page is a child of the parent page titled Support. To create a new child page and build the drop down menus for the navigation,

  • Select the Dashboard → Write → Page
  • Add title and page content
  • Find Advanced Options subheading
    • Click on Page Template to select a custom page template
    • Click on Page Parent to position your child page under the correct parent page
    • Click on Page Order to customize the order of the pages in your navigation (larger numbers move pages to the right) otherwise they will appear in alphabetical order
  • Click the Publish button at the top of the right column

This will add a new page under the selected parent page immediately.
