Building with images

There are 2 steps to insert an image.

  1. Upload image to your server
  2. Insert the image on to your page

Check your Media Settings

Ashford uses thumbnails and other built-in WordPress image features. So if you do not use these values, it may cause layout issues. Please enter the following values in the Media panel:

  1. Dashboard → Settings → Media Settings
  2. Enter Thumbnail size:  Width=150px and Height=150px
  3. Select checkbox: “Crop thumbnail to exact dimensions (normally thumbnails are proportional)”
  4. Enter Medium size:  Width=300px and Height=300px
  5. Enter Large size:  Width=520px and Height=1020px

Prepare images BEFORE uploading

It is highly recommended that you prepare your images BEFORE uploading them. Most likely you do not need an image larger than 1020px by 1020px since Ashford is only 960px wide. This saves you time and storage space.

Upload images to server

The simplest way to do this is to use the “Add Media” tools on the add post/add page screen located on the above the rich text editor icons next to the “Visual” and “HTML” tabs. These instructions apply to adding photos, videos, audio, or miscellaneous media (e.g. PDF files).

  1. In the “From Computer” area of the screen you need to upload the desired image file. You can use either the “Browser Uploader” or the default Flash Uploader.
  2. If you select “Browser Uploader”, hit the “Browse…” button and choose the desired image file on your computer. Then, hit the “Upload” button. Your image file is now on your web server
  3. If you use the default Flash Uploader, select “Choose files to upload” and choose the desired image file on your computer. Then, hit the “Upload” button. Your image file is now on your web server.
  4. Make sure you give the image an appropriate title, as well as a relevant description if desired.
  5. Choose the desired alignment and size, and hit the “insert into post” button. Your image is now inserted into the post at the location where your cursor was last active.
