Page Templates

The power of WordPress page template is largely ignored by most themes and developers. Page templates make Ashford a content management system (CMS) framework:

  • Content: create a basic interior page like “About Us”
  • List: create pages that list content like a Blog Feed or a Catalog
  • Landing: create pages that are a hybrid of content and list pages like a Front or Topic

Here are some samples of the more interesting of pages you can build with the Pro version of Ashford:

 

Page Options

Ashford adds a Page Options Panel to the page editor (see screen shot above right). By selecting different options, it allows you to build any type of page using easy to read documentation. And it is so powerful, you do not need to know HTML, CSS, JavaScript or PHP to produce remarkable results:

  • Add a Hero (e.g. content slider, slideshow, rotating banner)
  • List posts or pages below your body
  • Select a layout to display your list of posts o r pages (e.g. list, excerpt, thumbnail, full, etc)
  • Limit the number of items displayed with pagination built-in
  • Filter by tag or category
  • Plus select an optional sidebar

Use layouts to create list pages

Abandon typical WordPress archive pages and get total control over lists by date, author and topic. Using Page Options panel, you can list posts or page as thumbnails, photo galleries, excerpts and more. You can also limit the number of items displayed, filter by category, tag or author.

Create “Page Apps”

Combine the power of Page templates with Heroes, you can create what might be considered page apps. For example, the Ashford download page, adds a Squeeze Hero to the page turning it into a high-powered email capture tool. There are over 250 page variations you can build:

  • Front or home pages
  • Download and squeeze pages
  • Landing pages and sales letters
  • Bonus and offer pages
  • Launch pages
  • Portfolio or image gallery
  • Catalog or product showcase
  • News feed
  • FAQ or customer support

Ashford templates allow you to remove or customize sidebars. Each template has a default sidebar, however, you can choose a different sidebar OR add a custom sidebar. This eliminates the need for plugins or custom templates meaning you can use the same template and create completely different experiences. For example, use same 2 column right sidebar template but assign custom sidebars.

Now you have the ability to display different widgets on your About and Product page without plugins or additional templates to maintain.

Advanced Page Options

If that is not enough variety, advanced users can push your page app even further:
