In release, v0.1.5, Ashford takes a giagantic step forward. A lot of work was done to make Ashford a killer SEO WordPress theme:
- Added custom keyword and meta tag support to the front page
- Added auto-generated keyword and meta tag support to all post and page templates
- Added robot meta tag support
Together this enhancements make Ashford a great theme for anyone looking to optimize their web site for search engines.
Then I added support for subthemes (or they are sometimes called child themes). This is key to Ashford development in the future. I will continue to keep Ashford free and keep adding features, including drop-down menus, custom widgets and more page templates.
In the next month, I will start releasing subthemes that will allow owners to customize Ashford to fit their needs. Subthemes run on the Ashford “framework” and allow me to continue to develop features and functions.
Suthemes give me the freedom to go crazy with the variety of designs I can offer owners. Many of these subthemes will be offered at a small cost—from free to $19. Instead of releasing entirely new themes, I can style the Ashford framework.
Towards this, I added the Sandbox class generating function support to Ashford. This will create opportunities for very custom subtheming. Using jQuery, 960 Grid System and the Sandbox class functions, Ashford offers a premium framework at no cost. Our subthemes will allow you to customize your site to fit your needs at a small additional cost.
Look for the first subthemes to be released by end of November.
